What the diagnostic process looks like
The diagnosis doesn't stop at the fault code.
A scan code tells you where to look - it doesn't tell you what's wrong. We follow a structured process that goes from non-invasive observations through to confirmed component testing before we condemn anything. You get a clear explanation of the fault and an estimate before any work begins.
Observe, reproduce & scan
We start with a visual inspection and a review of the symptoms, then reproduce the fault condition under the same circumstances it occurs. From there we pull fault codes and live data: operating values across all relevant systems, not a bare fault number.
Test components - invasively if needed
Live data narrows the field. Invasive component testing confirms the cause. We test individual components under load and in-circuit - voltage drops, signal outputs, pressure readings, mechanical function - before we condemn any part. This is the step most shops skip.
Repair, re-scan & road test
Once the faulty component is confirmed, we carry out the repair and re-scan to verify the fault is gone. A road test under the same conditions finishes the job. The code doesn't just get cleared - it stays clear because the cause is fixed, not masked.

That means live data, guided diagnostics, and module programming, not just a fault code and a shrug. A basic code reader from the parts shop can tell you a number. Ours tells us what the vehicle is actually doing.
